21/03/2025 Scientific Study for FORTIUS D3+B12

Effects of a Novel Dispersible Supplement Containing 2500 IU of Vitamin D and 1000 µg of B12 in Restoring Vitamin D and B12 Insufficiency: A Multicenter, Randomized Controlled Trial. Nutrients 2025, 17(3), 419.

A recent multicenter, randomized controlled trial investigated the efficacy of a novel dispersible supplement containing 2,500 IU of vitamin D and 1,000 µg of vitamin B12 in restoring efficiencies of these vitamins.

The study was published in the scientific journal Nutrients, a peer-reviewed international scientific journal. It has an Impact Factor (IF) of approximately 5, according to the Journal Citation Reports, indicating strong influence in the scientific community in the field of nutrition and dietetics. It is classified in Q1 ranking, meaning it is among the top 25% of journals in its category.

Study Design and Participants

The study included 124 participants aged 20 to 80 with serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D levels below 20 ng/mL and vitamin B12 levels under 250 ng/L. Participants were randomized into three groups:

  • Group A: Received combined supplement FORTIUS D3+B12 (2,500 IU vitamin D and 1,000 µg vitamin B12) daily.
  • Group B: Received separate supplements of 2,000 IU vitamin D and 1,000 µg vitamin B12 daily.
  • Group C: Control group with no supplementation.

Key Findings

After 12 weeks, both supplementation groups showed significant increases in serum levels of vitamin D and B12 compared to the control group.

Group A, which received the combined supplement FORTIUS D3+B12, recorded higher average levels of vitamins D and B12 compared to Group B.

Specifically, 37.1% of participants in Group A achieved sufficient levels of both vitamins, compared to 29.4% in Group B.

A key finding is that 18% of patients in Group B exhibited poor compliance.

Implications

The findings suggest that a combined supplement may enhance patient adherence and lead to better health outcomes for individuals with concurrent deficiencies in vitamins D and B12.

Conclusion

This study provides evidence that the oral dispersible supplement FORTIUS D3+B12 containing 2,500 IU of vitamin D3 and 1,000 µg of vitamin B12 is effective in correcting deficiencies in these vitamins. The combined supplementation approach may offer advantages in improving patient compliance and achieving adequate vitamin levels.
